Programs last up to 18 months and are pre-arranged by you.

- Professionals with at least 1 year of experience outside of the U.S. and a degree from a non-U.S. institution, or those with 5+ years of experience outside the U.S. without a degree, are eligible to apply.

What is a J1 training visa?
The J1 training
visa is a non-immigrant cultural exchange visa issued by the U.S. Department of
State. It permits foreign professionals to train with an U.S. organization for up
to 18 months. This visa is essential for those seeking to legally train in the
U.S. and aims to foster mutual understanding and professional development
through structured programs.
If I have been on a previous J1 training visa, may I apply again?
Yes. If it has been over 2
years since your last J1 visa training or intern program, you can apply again
if you meet the qualifications.
How long can I be on a J-1 training visa?
The maximum length of a J1 training
visa is 18 months.
Can I extend my training program?
Extensions may be considered if the
training site demonstratesa need for additional training but additional
training cannot exceed the 18-month limit.
Can I bring my family while on a CIP program?
J-2 visas for family and spouses may
be available for certain programs. Contact CIP for details.
What is SEVIS?
SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor
Information System) requires a fee of $220 USD. Participants can pay online (www.fmjfee.com) or have CIP handle it and reimburse them.
Are there any additional fees?
Possibly. Besides CIP Program Fees,
U.S. Embassy/Consulate application fees apply and vary by country. Check with
your local embassy for specifics costs.
Am I required to have health insurance coverage while on a J1 program?
YES! J1 traineesand dependents must have health
insurance that meeting U.S. Department of State requirements. Coverage

How do I obtain health insurance?
You can purchase health insurance on
your own as long as it meets J1 visa requirements. OR, CIP can provide the
necessary J1 visa health insurance through GeoBlue or a list of approved
